This piece was written for the celebration of David Bintley’s first 20 years with Birmingham Royal Ballet.

The material is taken from work in progress on my music for David’s full length ballet of Shakespeare’s The Tempest. It has been a hugely inspiring and satisfying experience to work with him.

Prospero, the enchanter who conjures up masques, storms, apparitions and emotions, seems an apt parallel with David.

The main themes refer to Prospero, but Ferdinand, Ariel and other characters also make fleeting appearances.
