Two Trees, a new anthem by Sally Beamish, will premiere on 26 July 2025, as part of celebrations to mark the 475th anniversary of the Dutch Church in Austin Friars, London.
The new work sets the poem of the same name by W.B. Yeats and will be sung by an octet of singers directed by Greg Hallam, with organist David Titterington.
A stained glass window by artist Thomas Denny has also been commissioned for the church's anniversary. The theme of the new design is inspired by Psalm 1, where a tree of life embodies the wisdom of the righteous. Opposite to the window is the great tree of life tapestry, with these two trees inspiring Beamish's choice of text.
